All proceeds will go to the War Child charity.The intention was also to make a quality compilation, something that would sound good this and every Christmas. When approaching artists who we knew would understand the spirit of the album, we gave them one of three choices they could cover a Christmas standard, jingle up one of their existing songs or donate an original song about Christmas. The support we had then and now from all the people involved has been amazing. Although most of these songs were recorded in 2000, in 2021 they still sound great. Have a cool, cool Christmas

We are commemorating this by organizing a special event at Poppodium Boerderij together with the Opposite Direction Foundation on this day. With a book presentation, film, concert and exhibition. It was December 5, 1987 that Adrian Borland walked off the stage halfway through the concert of The Sound at De Boerderij. It would later turn out that this had been The Sound’s last concert. Adrian then made five more solo albums, but unfortunately his illness always slumbered in the background and on April 26, 1999 he decided to end his life.

The mixes of ‘Not In Love With Love’ and ‘War War War’ have been done by the band’s original drummer Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge with Timothy Ellis aka General Theory Of Dub. Led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black and cofronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson, The Selecter recently welcomed Aitch back for recording and touring.It’s been 43 years since the release of The Selecter’s seminal debut album Too Much Pressure and while it still inspires and resonates today, their new studio album Human Algebra keeps the fire burning with a stellar collection of hardhitting tracks in the band’s own inimitable style. Human Algebra, released April 21st, is a word from the wise – from questioning ‘fake news’ “Big Little Lies”, to pointing the finger at keyboard warriors “Armchair Guevara”, and the scourge of knife crime “Human Algebra”. Human relationships are also touched upon “Boxing Clever”, along with a touching tribute to the late great Ranking Roger from The Beat “Parade The Crown”. As ever, The Selecter are led by their iconic frontwoman Pauline Black OBE and cofronted by original member Arthur ‘Gaps’ Hendrickson with original drummer Charley ‘Aitch’ Bembridge. Human Algebra is produced by Neil Pyzer, who also contributes Sax, Guitar and keyboards. The rest of the band feature John Robertson on Guitar, Lee Horsley on organ and Andy Pearson on bass duties. The new album is being released on Black and Red Vinyl plus CD and Digital.
