Once Upon A Time Coloured Double Heavyweight LP by Dreadzone
Following the release of Dreadzones dancefloor infused 4th album Sound in 2001 the need to take the album live would see a change of lineup. New man Ben Balafonic took on touring duties and moved his mixing desk into the Dread Central studio in West London to start a brand new partnership. Along with new live MC Spee and Greg Dreads brother Steve a team was building that would go on to create a tougher more MC driven skanking spin on the bass heavy dread sound. Earl 16 also became a big part of an album that evolved slowly in between other projects and remixing during the next 3 years from 2002 to 2005. Without a live show Greg, Ben and Spee took the Dreadzone Sound System to a new level on the road resulting in a DJ mix album on the Functional Label. To build on that, Dreadzones 5th artist album Once Upon A Time was finally released in 2005 also on Functional and the bands fearsome live reputation stepped up a notch with the return of Leo Williams. The following year of touring took in many dynamic shows resulting in the live album Live at Sunrise. Sadly the tour for that record never took place. In 2006 Ben left and Steve Roberts tragically passed away effectively drawing a line under this particular period of Dreadzone. Now in 2020 its time to revisit this album with a remastered release that includes double heavyweight vinyl on the bands own Dubwiser label to best tell the story of Once Upon A Time.

Earth Heavyweight LP by EOB
Ed O’ Brien never planned to make a solo record. As a guitarist with Radiohead, who over almost three decades and nine albums have established themselves as one of the most innovative and influential musical forces of our time, he thought his artistic side had its outlet and was happy to spend any downtime from Radiohead with his family. Plus, he wondered, would it really be necessary “Thom, Jonny and Phillip are making music,” he says, “and I’ m like, ‘The last thing the world needs is a shit album by me.’” But suddenly a switch was flicked and the songs came pouring out of him. That creative surge resulted in an album of rediscovery and adventure by O’ Brien under the moniker EOB that deftly veers from moments of delicate folk to euphoric house, its songs seamlessly pinned together by unswerving melodic hooks and candid lyricism. A spirit of collaboration runs through it, from the production team of Flood, Catherine Marks, Alan Moulder and Adam ‘Cecil’ Bartlett to the extraordinary musicians O’ Brien assembled to help bring these tracks to life Omar Hakim, Colin Greenwood, David Okumu, Laura Marling, Adrian Utley, Nathan East and Glenn Kotche. Singles Blue Heavyweight LP by The Everly Brothers
The blending of Don and Phil Everlys voices is truly one of the great sounds of postwar American popular music. Recorded for the Cadence label in Nashville in 1958, their second album Songs Our Daddy Taught Us could be termed an early concept album. The twelve songs none of which were hits were Old School country as the title says, songs known to Don and Phils father which celebrated the timeless quality of the music in an era when such celebrations might have been regarded as a retrograde step. It also anticipates the US Folk Revival that was soon to come. This LP rounds up the Cadence singles A and Bsides that didnt feature on their debut album, and is thus home to these perenniallypopular worldwide hits, most of which went Top 10 in the US and UK All I Have To Do Is Dream, Claudette, Bird Dog, Problems, Devoted To You, Take A Message To Mary, Til I Kissed You, Let It Be Me, Poor Jenny and When Will I Be Loved. The inner sleeve features annotation by Alan Robinson. The record is pressed on 180 gram blue vinyl.
