The 2016 show on discs 2 and 3 captures their return to Austin two years later hot off the heels of the release of ‘Nonagon Infinity’, and also sees them storm through Gizz bangers from ‘Paper Mache Dream Balloon’, ‘Quarters’ and ‘12 Bar Bruise’. BWitched is the selftitled debut studio album by Irish girl group BWitched, consisting of twin sisters Edele and Keavy Lynch, Lindsay Armaou and Sineacutead O’ Carroll. Originally active between 1997 and 2002, BWitched enjoyed success in both Europe and North America. All four singles from the album performed exceptionally well, all peaking at 1 on the UK Singles Chart. They also had great success in Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand. In addition, “C’ est La Vie” booked its successes in the United States, peaking at 9 on the Billboard Hot 100. VIRGIN KILLER is the fourth studio album by the Scorpions, released at the end of 1976, and is the bands shortest album with a length of 35 minutes. It is the second album made in collaboration with producer Dieter Dierks and was another step away from psychedelic influences and towards hard rock. The title VIRGIN KILLER refers to the idea that time is the killer of innocence. The album reached 32 on the Japanese album charts and was the first Scorpions album to be certified gold in Japan. VIRGIN KILLER was remastered with special sensitivity from the original tapes and is now released as a 180g 1LP, pressed on skyblue vinyl.

While the Scorpions were still slowly trudging their way up in Europe, they were already a recognised force in Japan, and Virgin Killer was the first album to be gilded in the land of the rising sun. So it was high time for the first trip to the Far East. Four months after the release of TAKEN BY FORCE, the group arrived in Tokyo in 1978. Four concerts were scheduled, one each in Osaka and Nagoya and two in Tokyos Nakano Sun Plaza. These two shows were recorded for the live double album TOKYO TAPES, which was also intended as a farewell gift for the departing Uli Jon Roth. TOKYO TAPES impressively documents what has always distinguished the Scorpions Their rousing and electrifying live presence, immense joy in playing, an intimacy with their audience that produces goosebumps, and of course musical and technical brilliance. In Tokyo, the classic lineup with the two outstanding guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Uli Jon Roth and the charismatic front man Klaus Meine was in the form of their lives. They played with the songs, changed them as they pleased, involved the audience and took the freedom to improvise. A good ex&le is Fly To The Rainbow. The band changes the song as they play, and Uli Jon Roth amuses himself to the best of his ability with his effects board. He lets the guitar roar, scream, wail and sing and then sets off on a solo that must be one of the best solos in rock history. TOKYO TAPES is a terrific live album that captures the bands energy and joy of playing almost perfectly. It offers those who are not so familiar with the early years of the Scorpions an excellent opportunity to rediscover the great music they wrote before they became worldwide superstars. TOKYO TAPES is now released as a 180g gatefold 2LP, pressed on yellow vinyl.

TAKEN BY FORCE was released on 4 December 1977 and was the last studio album with Uli Jon Roth and the first with the new drummer Herman Rarebell. The newcomer also introduced himself as a songwriter and contributed the lyrics to Hes A Woman Shes A Man. TAKEN BY FORCE features a number of songs that have since become classics. Steamrock Fever is one of them, a typical live hit that was an absolute hit with the audience for many years. Then we have Ive Got To Be Free, written by Uli Jon Roth a highenergy and hardrocking piece with great riffs and some guitar magic that once again demonstrates Roths exceptional class. Ultraheavy riffs and a catchy chorus, on the other hand, are the trademarks of the aforementioned Hes A Woman Shes A Man. The small masterpiece The Sails Of Charon, another song by Uli Jon Roth, is a caliber on its own. The most unusual, and often criminally underrated, track on the album, however, is Your Light. A funky bass introduces the track and the song grooves almost like a Motown production. Your Light is the perfect counterpart and balance to the rather dark and oppressive The Sails Of Charon or The Riot Of Your Time. The ballad Born To Touch Your Feelings represents the romantic side of the Scorpions, which has established them as the Masters of Ballads over the years. The song is of the same class as the later monster hits Still Loving You or Holiday. Although the musical differences between Uli Jon Roth and the other band members had already become apparent during the recording process, TAKEN BY FORCE has become a fascinating album that does not have the slightest weak spot. It is the exquisite culmination of the era with Uli Jon Roth and at the same time a work that should have a significant influence on the future development of heavy metal. LOVEDRIVE marked the beginning of a new era in the history of the Scorpions. Guitarist Uli Jon Roth had left the band for good in 1978 after the band’ s first Japan tour. The new man, Matthias Jabs, also came from Hanover and alongside him, Michael Schenker also joined the band in the studio.
