English heavymetal band Diamond Head was formed in Stourbridge by guitarist Brian Tatler and drummer Duncan Scott in 1976. Diamond Head were part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and have been acknowledged by bands such as Metallica and Megadeth as a significant early influence. The album Borrowed Time is one of the alltime classic albums from the NWOBHM era and was originally released in 1982. The albums openers In the Heat of the Night and Call Me are both power ballads, strongly signifying the bands approach to a more mainstream sound. Detroitbased rock band Sponge was formed in 1992 and consisted of vocalist Vinnie Dombroski, guitarist Mike Cross, bassist Tim Cross, drummer Jimmy Paluzzi and guitarist Joey Mazzola. Their biggest hits to date include Plowed and Molly Sixteen Candles, which are both from their 1994 debut album Rotting Piata. Plowed was also featured on several films Empire Records, No Looking Back, Chasing Mavericks, TV shows Cold Case and video games Tony Hawk Shred, Guitar Hero Warriors of Rock. Rotting Piata also contains the track Candy Corn, which used to be hidden after track B5 Rainin. Naqoyqatsi Translucent Red Double Heavyweight Vinyl by Philip Glass
Naqoyqatsiis the third and final film in theQatsitrilogy, meaning “life as war”. About eighty percent ofNaqoyqatsiuses archive footage and stock images manipulated and processed digitally on nonlinear editing workstations and intercut with specially produced computergenerated imagery to demonstrate society’s transition from a natural environment to a technologybased one. Just like its predecessorsKoyaanisqatsiandPowaqqatsi,the music was composed by Philip Glass. Performed by members of the Philip Glass Ensemble, and featuring the amazing YoYo Ma on cello, this completes the lengthy score which was begun for this film series with “Koyaanisqatsi” in 1982. The music is more in the traditional orchestral tradition than much of Glass’s work as a familiar doorway to images so disconnected from the familiar world. One instrument, the cello, plays through much of the piece. Some unconventional instruments are used in addition to traditional ones, including a didgeridoo and an electronically created jaw harp.Naqoyqatsiis available as a limited edition of 500 individually numbered copies on translucent red coloured vinyl, housed in a gatefold sleeve and contains an 8page booklet.
