Named after a fictional band in Anthony Burgesss A Clockwork Orange, they recruited Glenn Gregory on vocals who had been the original choice for lead singer of the Human League.Released in April 1983, second album The Luxury Gap featured the Top 5 hits Temptation and Come Live With Me, as well as Crushed By The Wheels Of Industry and Let Me Go. The album was certified Platinum in February 1984 for sales of over 300,000.This new edition has been expertly mastered by Barry Grint at AIR Mastering from the original stereo tapes using precision halfspeed mastering. Halfspeed mastering is a vinyl cutting technique that improves groove accuracy and transient information creating an incredibly detailed stereo image with a natural high frequency response.Presented in its original sleeve, pressed on 180gram heavyweight black vinyl, featuring an obi strip and housed in a polylined inner sleeve, with all the lyrics and credits plus photos on the 4page insert.

Originally issued in 1984, World Shut Your Mouth saw the mercurial leader of The Teardrop Explodes establish himself as a fullyfledged solo artist Never repressed in its original format, this reissue faithfully replicates the original 1984 Mercury Records UK release and is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl.When The Teardrop Explodes finally ground to a halt in late 1982, all eyes were on what leader Julian Cope would do next. After retreating to the village of Drayton Bassett in Staffordshire for an extended period, Cope began writing World Shut Your Mouth, his first solo album.Released in March 1984, it is the closest to his old band of all his solo work Metranil Vavin and Pussyface were both originally intended for the Teardrops, World Shut Your Mouth featured Gary Dwyer on drums, and giving the album its most distinctive sound, Kate St. John on oboe. Beautifully pastoral, it is full of highlights such as Strasbourg, Kolly Kibbers Birthday and the wistful, reflective Head Hang Low. The strange, stringled, schizophrenic, Sunshine Playroom was the albums first single, followed up by radio hit Greatness And Perfection.Julian Copes second album of 1984 Never repressed in its original format, this reissue faithfully replicates the original Mercury Records UK release with poster, and is pressed onto high quality 180g vinyl.Fried is one of Julian Copes boldest. It made many think that after a while teetering on the edge, Julian Cope had finally tipped over into an artistic madness, &lified by his wearing a turtle shell and staring at a toy van on a landscaped spoil tip in Warwickshire on the albums sleeve. Opening track Reynard The Fox added to it all, a sixminute psychedelic garage rock tourdeforce, breaking down to a Cope monologue where he gravely intones English folk tales from his vantage point, referring also to an onstage stomachslashing incident from 1983. Sunspots, the sole single taken from the album, is one of his greatest recordings in a career that spans over 40 years. Fried is up there with some of the very best works of the singular British eccentric.World Shut Your Mouth is a deeply satisfying album, worthy of reappraisal.
