Unbreakable – The Fragile Mixes Green Double Heavyweight Vinyl by Dead Or Alive
Dead Or Alive have sold more than 30 million albums and 25 million singles worldwide and gave Stock Aitken Waterman their first 1 single. Their first three albums, which the band wrote, all reached the UK Top 30, with Youthquake reaching the Top 10. In the 1980s, they charted seven unique singles in the UK Top 40, with two further reentries this century, with a remix and original version of You Spin Me Round Like A Record. Respected US magazine Billboard, ranked them in their alltime Top 100 most successful dance artists chart. UnbreakableThe Fragile Remixes was a 2001 Japanonly release, which followed on from the success of Fragile. The label requested permission to commission a tentrack remix album. The album formed part of the Sophisticated Boom Box MMXVI box set in 2016 and received its debut UK and first vinyl LP release as part of Record Store Day 2017. This edition is released in its original Japanese Promo LP configuration and will be pressed on 180g heavyweight pale green colour vinyl.

On The Strip – The Sunset Sessions Clear Double Heavyweight Vinyl by Average White Band
Widely and rightly regarded as one of the best ever soul and funk bands, the now legendary Average White Band toreup the rule book and conquered the US, UK & International charts with a series of soul and disco hits between 1974 and 1980. AWB’ s repertoire has been a source of inspiration and influence for many R&B acts and they are one of the most s&led bands in history, remaining relevant today, continuing to reach new generations of younger audiences. Snoop Dogg, Fatboy Slim, Ice Cube, Puff Daddy, TLC, Rick Ross, will.i.am and Mark Ronson amongst countless others, have all borrowed sections of their grooves. After the success of 1979’ s ‘Feel No Fret’, the band went into the studio record their next album and in 1980, ‘Shine’ was released with the worldwide Chart and Club hit ‘Let’ s Go ‘Round Again’, reaching 14 in the UK Albums Chart. However, there was a backstory behind the album’ s release, which Alan Gorrie and Hamish Stuart have annotated in the LP notes. To celebrate the 40th Anniversary of ‘Shine’, AWB past and present have reconfigured the album as they had originally intended, bringing in the four tracks that they had to ‘leave’ behind when they changed record labels. In addition, due to separate behind the scenes situations, two further tracks were unable to be included on the album and remained unreleased until this century. ‘On The Strip – The Sunset Sessions’ is what ‘Shine’ could have been a slightly longer 2LP set, heralding in the new decade. The album includes the singles ‘Let’ s Go ‘Round Again’ and ‘For You, For Love’, as well as ‘Whatcha’ Gonna Do For Me’, which later become synonymous with Chaka Khan, who recorded it the following year, having sung on an earlytake for AWB, when they were recording the album. ‘Miss Sun’ makes it longawaited inclusion on the album for which it had been recorded until fate dealt another hand, with permission being withheld then appearing as the lead track on Boz Scaggs’ ‘Hits’ LP reaching 14 on the Billboard Hot 100. 40 years on, Average White Band still ‘shine’ brightly and remain highly influential for today’ s groovemerchants and EDM DJs.

The Outsiders Coloured Double Heavyweight Vinyl by Original Soundtrack
Francis Ford Coppola’ s comingofage drama The Outsiders 1983 adapted S.E. Hinton’ s successful 1967 novel of the same name, using a young cast of rising stars C. Thomas Howell, Tom Cruise, Matt Dillon, Rob Lowe, Emilio Estevez, Patrick Swayze, Ralph Macchio and Diane Lane many of whom came to be known as the Brat Pack, defining a genre of 80’ s films. The plot focuses on the rivalry between two gangs of teenagers in Tulsa, Oklahoma, one poor Greasers, the other wealthier Socs. Coppola’ s ambition was to achieve the widescreen scope ‘of a teen Gone with the Wind’, and he asked his father, Carmine Coppola, to score the soundtrack. The result is epic and romantic, a return to a golden age of Hollywood film composing which suits the stylised and epic cinematography, becoming darker as the characters fulfil their tragic destinies. Stevie Wonder cowrote and performed the song that plays over the credits, ‘Stay Gold’, which is included on this release. The inner sleeves feature extensive notes by Daniel Schweiger on the history of the film, the soundtrack and an insight into the Coppola father and son partnership.

An ambitious mafia film by director Pasquale Squitieri that was made in 1985 about the murder of Ambrosoli and mafia corruption in the USA. Ennio Morricone wrote a great number of film scores for the Sicilian problems with the mafia. The score for Il Pentito is full of tension and action, but the record starts with a lovely romantic theme for strings orchestrated in a typical Morricone style. And there are more nice themes as there is in track 4, Il Pentito Colloqui discreti a theme for guitar and flute and track 6 Addio al Padre for guitar and oboe. Happiness was recorded from late 1988 to summer 1989, influenced by the band’ s immersion in the nascent UK Acid House scene. Originally a fourpiece guitarsynth band, The Beloved MK1 parted ways late 1987 and founder members Jon Marsh and Steve Waddington were newly liberated by their electronic, machinedriven rhythm section.
