Gold Vinyl Vinyl Records Gold Vinyl Toyah Produced by Nick Tauber, with arrangements by the band and Toyah, the album features a lineup that saw Toyah Willcox and Joel Bogen joined by Nigel Glockler, Phil Spalding and Adrian Lee.‘Anthem’ was a big commercial success, reaching number two in the UK Top 40 album chart in May 1981. It spent 46 weeks on the album chart and was awarded a Gold album sales certification. The album followed two Top Ten hit singles, ‘It’s A Mystery’ 4 and ‘I Want To Be Free’ 8 both of which feature on ‘Anthem’ entering the public mainstream through radio playand appearances on BBC’s legendary weekly music TV programme Top Of The Pops. ‘It’s A Mystery’ and ‘I Want To Be Free’ have become iconic and wellloved hit singles of the 1980s.The album also includes the anthemic ‘We Are’ and the atmospheric ‘Jungles Of Jupiter’, both classics that have remained in Toyah’s live set to this today. Toyah will embark on a 40th Anniversary Anthem tour beginning September 2022 to coincide with this special reissue.
