More than a decade in the making, its 12 new songs are full of extraordinary surprises. Unique and transportive, Yusufs new music, words and melodies paint a vivid picture of a world where childlike dreams are brought back into touching distance. His poetical storytelling invites the listener on a journey towards the gates of an alternative universe to that which we presently inhabit where happy endings do happen.The albums artwork was created by Reynolds, the awardwinning childrens illustrator. As well as the cover art, Peter has created illustrations for each song portraying the albums lyrical themes that feature in the records accompanying booklet.Early recording sessions for the album stretch back to 2011 at Berlins Hansa Studios the setting for classic albums such as David Bowies Low, Heroes and U2s Achtung Baby. From there, recording locations moved through the years from ICP Studios in Brussels to La Fabrique in Province, South of France. Additional overdubs and 60piece orchestra were recorded in Air and Angel studios in London. With some key work originally recorded in Yusufs own garagebased home studio in Dubai he calls, Dubville.

The crisp live edge to the recording is very well done, and its one of their most abbrasive and hardhitting album of the 90s. It features the popular tracks Spinetrap, Oleano, Hostile, and He Pep. Originally released in 1986, Animal Magic is the second album from The Blow Monkeys, which gave the band their commercial breakthrough after 1984s critically acclaimed debut Limping For A Generation. Animal Magic features the hit single Forbidden Fruit and the classic Digging Your Scene, which was a top 20 hit in the UK, the US and worldwide. The album, a triumph of intelligent, soul influenced sophistipop, is a treasure trove of superbly crafted gems including I Backed A Winner In You, which sees singer Dr Robert backed by the acapella singers The Demon Barbers, and Sweet Murder, featuring Jamaican reggae musician EekAMouse. This reissue is pressed on limited edition solid white vinyl and features exclusive liner notes by journalist Barry McIlheney, who was editor of Smash Hits at the time of Animal Magics original release. Barry interviewed lead singer Dr Robert exclusively for this reissue and Robert talks about the bands success at the time upon the release of Digging Your Scene, and the album which propelled them into the limelight.
