Hell, Fire And Damnation Heavyweight LP & CD – Saxon
Available with Vinyl records London. New Vinyl Records LP Vinyl Saxon SAXON UNLEASH HELL, FIRE AND DAMNATIONSaxon proudly release their latest album Hell, Fire And Damnation on January 19th 2024, and when internationallyrenowned actor Brian Blessed OBE delivers a proclamation for opening track, “The Prophecy”, expectations are automatically high. Have no fear and make no mistake, Saxon meet and exceed them on their 24th studio release, creating a superlative British Heavy Metal classic which strides the perfect line between confident, current power, and gloriously irreverent flexing of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal muscle which Saxon cocreated. There is supreme confidence in every performance. Biff Byford delivers his richest vocals in years, Nigel Glockler and Nibbs Carter on drums and bass respectively lay down the rhythmic law with thunderous power, and the guitars of Doug Scarratt and Brian Tatler are fresh and fiery, a perfect complement to each other, and carrying an overall energy and fury which will have fans salivating. Lyrically, Byford enjoys investigating all areas of both history and mystery, with Marie Antoinette, Kubla Khan, the Battle of Hastings, the Salem witch trials and the fight between good and evil on the title track all in the mix. Musically, Saxon bring it all to the table. Theres a furious tribute to actual heavy metal in the denim & leather coated supersprint “Fire And Steel”, a wonderful nod to the NWOBHMs birth in the electric midpace “Pirates Of The Airwaves”, but maybe the true treasure amidst the jewels is “Theres Something In Roswell”, with the sort of expansive groove and embrace which deserves arenas. Add to this excellent production by Biff and Andy Sneap Sneap also mixed and mastered Hell, Fire And Damnation and you have Saxons most definitive statement in years.1A. The Prophecy2A. You Are The Healer Test Pressing Heavyweight LP
You are The Healer is Mattrsquos second solo album, and his first since leaving Mother Earth and his former label Acid Jazz. The first release on Mattrsquos own Barley Wheel label was delayed until 2000 following a long running dispute with Acid Jazz that was finally resolved with Matt regaining ownership and releasing the album himself. Recorded in a converted chapel in the North East of England it features drummer and folk percussionist Liam Genockey along with his partner in rhythm Tim Harries on double bass. Liam had played on John Martynrsquos lsquoSundayrsquos Childrsquo album which was a favourite of Mattrsquos at the time. They were joined in the studio by keyboard wizard Brian Auger who put down hammond and piano on several tracks. The album was recorded in two weeks, and with backing vocals throughout from Nicola BrightThomas Mattrsquos then wife who also takes the lead on two she co wrote, there are clear parallels with John and Beverley MartynrsquosnbspStormbringernbspas well as inevitable comparisons withnbspDavey Graham, Nick Drake, and PentanglersquosnbspSolomonrsquos Seal.nbspThis was the album that confirmed Matt to the world as a solo artist here to stay after wowing those who knew withnbspVillager. A timeless record, impeccably written and performed by serious musicians at the top of their game. The album has been remastered from the original studio master mixes by Russ HepworthSawyer. The influences are out front, primarily John Martyn, with Nick Drake and David Crosby thrown in… although the overall feeling is Scritti Politi stripped of the electronics. The word melliflous seeps over you as you listen… nbspThe Guardian 45Matt Deighton has something unique about him and this You Are The Healer is a winning selection… its been worth the wait. A Modern Classic that just has to be the HFC Album of the Month nbspSounds MagazineIt is impossible to imagine fans of Nick Drake and John Martyn not falling in love with himnbspnbspSunday Times
