Description
The Real New Fall LP Formerly Country on the Click is the 23rd studio album by The Fall . Originally released in the United Kingdom in 2003, Cherry Red Records is delighted to present this 20th anniversary reissue. Originally recorded at Lisa Stansfield 039s Gracieland Studios in between December 2002 and January 2003 with producer Grant Showbiz . The subtitle is explained by the fact that the tracks were originally scheduled for release in April 2003 under the title Country on the Click. Promotional copies were sent out and three of the new songs were previewed in the band039s 23 rd Peel Session, but Mark. E Smith was unhappy with the mix and decided it needed further work. Alex Linhardt of Pitchfork called it 34as valuable an album as anything The Fall ever released in the 1990s34 and stated that 34Smith039s lyrics are at a near careerbest of insolence and nonsense. AllMusic039 s David Jeffries wrote that the album 34gives the faithful another reason to believe34. Helen Pidd , reviewing the album for The Guardian , viewed Smith as being 34on magnificently mad form. Uncut called it 34Great by Smiths standards. Practically genius by everybody elses. Spin praised it as 34an atavistic orgy of recycled riffs and lifelong obsessions34. MOJO reviewed it as 34as good as anything in this group039s monstrous catalogue. Pop Matters called it 34their best record in a decade. This Set as with the other Fall reissues has been compiled in conjunction with Fall expert Conway Patton and has notes by Fall guru Daryl Easlea and was mastered by long time engineer Andy Pearce with art by Becky Stewart The Fall Vinyl is available for home delivery from Vinyl Records London, only £24
