Description

Rico started his career in the late 1950s playing with the likes of Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken and Max Romeo as a session musician in addition to creating his own recordings. He moved to the UK in the early 60s and continued performing live and playing as a session musician. He signed to Island Records in the 70s, releasing his first solo albums. In 1979 Rico met Jerry Dammers and began playing with The Specials. He became an honorary member of the band and featured prominently on some of their most famous tracks, along with Dick Cuthell, which produced a distinctive sound. In 1980 he released his first album for the 2 Tone label, That Man is Forward. Produced by Dick Cuthell and recorded in Jamaica over two sessions in Joe Gibbs studio. The album is a celebration of Jamaican musicians playing together, with the likes of Jah Jerry, Deadley Headley Bennet, Robbie Lyn, Sly amp Robbie, Ansel Collins the list goes on. This new remaster celebrates its 40th Anniversary, originally released in March 1981, as part of the ongoing 2 Tone 40th Anniversary releases. The package is a 3mm Spined Sleeve, 180gm Heavyweight Black Vinyl, printed inner and bellyband

Official Black Vinyl

The Black Vinyl category groups records whose product listings identify a black pressing. Browse this colour option across the current music catalogue, including single records, multi-disc editions and bundles where available. Colour describes the pressing specified by the product listing; it does not identify the genre, sound quality or number of discs. Some releases combine shades or use effects such as splatter, swirl or marble. Check each product page for the format, disc count, weight, edition and included items, then confirm availability on the listing.

Official Vinyl Records

Vinyl Records are at the heart of what we do, from brand new releases to classic pressings that never lose their pull. You’ll find albums across rock, indie, electronic, punk, metal, hip-hop and beyond, alongside reissues, limited editions and coloured vinyl where available. Whether you’re crate-digging for something familiar or discovering a record for the first time, everything here is chosen for people who actually listen, not just collect. Alongside vinyl, our store brings together official band merchandise and music culture essentials in one place. That means band t-shirts, hoodies, posters, accessories and select collectibles, all sitting naturally alongside the records they belong with. It’s a space built for music fans — the kind who care about artwork, sound, and the stories behind it — whether you’re buying your next favourite record or something to wear, hang, or keep that connects you to the music you love.
