The UKrsquos own Soul singer goes to Memphis and records an album lsquoSoulsvillersquo at the famous Royal Studios, featuring many of the Hi records rhythm section. It is a mixture of originals and covers of famous Memphis songs. Best of the new tracks are lsquoStill Herersquo a catchy song in the Memphis tradition with a tight rhythm and horns. lsquoWhen I See You Againrsquo has a nice countrysouthern soul feel and features the distinctive Hodges Brothers rhythm sound, also check the ballad lsquoI wonrsquot be looking backrsquo. The covers include lsquoPrivate numberrsquo with Jamie Cullum , lsquoI Canrsquot stand the rainrsquo and lsquoHold on Irsquom cominrsquo with Sam Moore. Nice album
