Led by one of the great guitarists, Peter Green 19462020, Fleetwood Mac initially Peter GreensFleetwood Mac formed in 1967 after Green left John Mayalls Bluesbreakers. Taking rhythmsection Mick Fleetwood and John McVie with him, Green named the new outfit after thembecause he anticipated his own departure at some point and wanted them to have a lastingidentity beyond his involvement.Bolstered by two more talented players, Jeremy Spencer and Danny Kirwan, the group immediately made their mark with their accomplished take on the blues on Mike Vernons Blue Horizon label before branching out to produce some consummate and hugely successful rock songs and instrumentals.Green led the band for less than three years, leaving in May 1970, but in that time as documented on this superb collection, first issued in 1971 he produced some of the finest music of the era, including certified classics like Albatross, Black Magic Woman, Oh Well and the heartbreakingly beautiful Man of the World.
