Description
The British Heavy Metal legends have delivered a fullroarfundown set of covers with their 2021 covers opus, Inspirations, which features some of the superb classic rock songs that influenced Biff Byford amp the band. Released on March 19th 2021, Inspirations includes Saxonrsquos crunching take on The Rolling Stonesrsquo lsquoPaint It Blackrsquo. From the supercharged melodic romp of The Beatlesrsquo lsquoPaperback Writerrsquo to their freeway mad take on Jimi Hendrixrsquos lsquoStone Freersquo, Saxon show their love and appreciation with a series of faithful, raw and ready tributes.nbsp Recorded at Brockfield House near York, UK, with a firm eye on the old school way using Marshall cabs, Marshall amps, real drums and produced by Biff Byford with Jacky Lehmann recording and mixing, Saxon approach the likes of Motoumlrheadrsquos lsquoBomberrsquo with added whistle, ACDCrsquos lsquoProblem Childrsquo, Black Sabbathrsquos lsquoEvil Womanrsquo and a raucous Deep Purplersquos lsquoSpeed Kingrsquo with refreshingly warm, unfiltered, ldquovintagerdquo sounding renditions.Byford takes on some new vocal challenges, which he duly smashes on the likes of Thin Lizzyrsquos lsquoThe Rockerrsquo. The net result is that whether cranking up a heavyweight take on Led Zeppelins lsquoImmigrant Songrsquo or throwing down ACDCrsquos lsquoProblem Childrsquo, Saxon does a supreme job of entertaining both themselves and their audience throughout Inspirations.
