The Problem of Leisure A Celebration of Andy Gill and Gang of Four is a double album of tracks written by Andy Gill and Gang of Four, all newly reinterpreted and recorded by artists whose own unique contributions to music were enriched by listening to Gang of Four. The album features songs from across Gang of Fours 40plus year career, each individually chosen by the artists who covered them.Andy Gill originally conceived of the album to mark the 40th anniversary of the release of Entertainment in 2019.His widow, Catherine Mayer, explains that this plan had already changed by the time of Andys death in 2020, after some artists chose tracks from different albums and periods. Andy was massively excited about this project, Mayer says. It wasnt of course conceived as a tribute album, but its comforting to me that he lived to see artists he hugely admired enthusiastically agreeing to participate, signalling that the admiration was mutual. The album artwork has been created by English artist Damien Hirst, a longtime friend of Andys. Various Artists Vinyl is available for home delivery from Vinyl Records London, only £25 +P&P
Vinyl records are a timeless format that continues to captivate music lovers with their warm, analogue sound. Unlike digital formats, vinyl offers a rich, textured listening experience that many argue feels more authentic and immersive. With their larger artwork and tangible presence, records bring a sense of nostalgia and artistry to any music collection.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or new to the world of vinyl, records have a unique ability to connect listeners to music on a deeper level. Their physical grooves and the ritual of placing a needle on a spinning disc create a tactile and engaging experience. From classic albums to modern releases, vinyl remains a cherished way to enjoy music.
