In the four years between 1975rsquos lsquoSirenrsquo and 1979rsquos lsquoManifestorsquo pop music had undergone a series of seismic shifts, with both disco and new wave threatening to cast into obsolescence many of Roxy Musicrsquos contemporaries. No such worries for Roxy, however. Not only had their early records stood the test of time, theyrsquod helped formulate this new future anyway and many of the new guard from the Sex Pistols to Chic actively cited Roxy as influences whenever given the chance. Kicking off with the title track as strong a statement of intent to begin any album lsquoManifestorsquo effortlessly surfed the 1979 zeitgeist and delivered some of the bandrsquos bestloved songs to date. Meanwhile its second single, the soulful ballad lsquoDance Awayrsquo became the UKrsquos 9th biggestseller that year. For this 50th anniversary edition lsquoRoxy Musicrsquo has been given a fresh HalfSpeed cut by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios in London and the album artwork has been similarly revised with lyrics and a deluxe gloss laminated finish. Roxy Music LP is available for home delivery from Vinyl Records London, only £27
An LP, or long-playing vinyl record, is a classic format cherished by music enthusiasts for its warm, authentic sound. Typically featuring up to 45 minutes of music split between two sides, LPs are the perfect way to enjoy full albums as the artist intended. Their larger format also allows for striking album artwork, making them as much a visual delight as an auditory one.
LPs have become symbols of a deeper connection to music, offering a tactile and immersive experience. From the ritual of placing the needle to the soft crackle as the music begins, playing an LP is a nostalgic journey that transcends digital convenience. Whether you’re collecting vintage classics or exploring modern releases, LPs remain an iconic choice for any music lover.
