Originally released in September 1985, it marked a departure from the band’s original lineup, with keyboard player Mike Barson taking a break from the group after an astonishingly successful run of five hit albums in as many years. Stylewise 039Mad Not Mad039 presented a more polished side of Madness and contains some of their most sophisticated and political songwriting. The first single, 039Yesterday’s Men039 finds the band in a smooth, reflective mood, dealing with the dispossessed characters in and around Camden Town, and ‘sweetest Girl039 is a cover of the iconic Scritti Politti track, while 039Uncle Sam039 is a classic Madness romp relayed through the narrative of a soldier’s experiences during World War II.
Heavyweight vinyl is pressed on thicker, denser material—typically weighing 180 grams or more. This added weight offers improved durability, reduced warping, and is often believed to provide better sound quality due to more stable playback. Many audiophile releases, reissues, and deluxe editions are pressed on heavyweight vinyl, making it a popular choice among collectors and music enthusiasts who value both performance and longevity. While it doesn’t automatically guarantee superior audio, its solid, premium feel and association with high-quality production standards have made it a trusted format for serious vinyl fans.
Vinyl records are a timeless format that continues to captivate music lovers with their warm, analogue sound. Unlike digital formats, vinyl offers a rich, textured listening experience that many argue feels more authentic and immersive. With their larger artwork and tangible presence, records bring a sense of nostalgia and artistry to any music collection.
Whether you’re a seasoned collector or new to the world of vinyl, records have a unique ability to connect listeners to music on a deeper level. Their physical grooves and the ritual of placing a needle on a spinning disc create a tactile and engaging experience. From classic albums to modern releases, vinyl remains a cherished way to enjoy music.
