Travis continuedthe antiwar theme with an acoustic version of lsquoThe Beautiful Occupationrsquo and Paul McCartney added to the project with analternate rendition of lsquoCalico Skiesrsquo which contains a poignant verse about the futility of all wars. New Order added their takeon Jimmy Cliffrsquos 1969 antiwar protest song lsquoVietnamrsquo.David Bowie donated the Metro Mix of lsquoEveryone Says lsquoHirsquorsquo exclusively for Hope and Basement Jaxx teamed up with JamaicanMC Yellowman for lsquoLove Is The Answerrsquo.Beverly Knight delivered a powerful vocal performance of Stevie Wonderrsquos lsquoLoversquos In Need of Love Todayrsquo whilst The Charlatansfollowed up their cover of lsquoTime For Livinrsquo from the 1995 HELP album with Curtis Mayfieldrsquos lsquoWe Gotta Have Peacersquo and BethOrton adds a sombre beauty to The Family Fiversquos lsquoOoh Childrsquo.The album is wrapped up by Yusuf Cat Stevens who recorded his first pop song for 25 years with a new version of his 1971 hitlsquoPeace Trainrsquo with South African choir the Incwenga Singers.The vinyl release of Hope features alternate artwork using the original concept designed by Nick Robertson that has never beenused before.Hope is part of a series of four rereleases by War Child Records making the amazing music artists have donated to the charityavailable on DSPs and vinyl for the first time.
