Description

Following the success of Demon Records highlycollectable 7 picture disc releases of T. Rexs 1973 singles, we now turn to the 1972 singles, again featuring photos from the Keith Morris archive. The second release is the absolute classic Telegram Sam, originally released in January 1972, effectively a preview of the forthcoming album The Slider, and these days amongst Marc Bolans best remembered songs. It was the bands third UK number 1, where it stayed for two weeks spending fourteen weeks in the charts in total. It knocked The New Seekers Id Like To Teach The World To Sing off the top spot, and was itself replaced by Chicory Tips Son Of My Father, producer Giorgio Moroders first UK hit.The song was covered by Bauhaus in 1980. The first of the Bsides, Cadilac always spelt this way, did not appear on The Slider album, released in July 1972.
